October 2006 ~ Imagination

The Twelve Powers are often viewed as a helpful framework for the relationship between principle and practice. Part of my recent practice has been to write a series of “power poems” which I am currently sharing in this column. Each poem is combined with a quote from Charles Fillmore’s writings, a scripture, and an affirmation, I hope you will find these “Power Pages” interesting and inspiring.

“In the communication of God with man, the imaging power of the mind plays an important part. It receives divine ideas and reflects their character to the consciousness. With the imagination we lay hold of ideas and clothe them with substance.” Revealing Word, page 104

Looking through the eye of imagination,
I see beauty where something plain appears.

Looking through the eye of beauty,
I see balance and authenticity.

Looking through the eye of imagination,
I see possibility where something dead appears.

Looking through the eye of possibility,
I see promise and creativity.

Looking through the eye of imagination,
I see peace where something harsh appears.

Looking through the eye of peace,
I see harmony and generosity.

Looking through the eye of imagination,
I see infinity where something small appears.

Looking through the eye of infinity,
I see God.

“The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy,
your whole body will be full of light.”
Matthew 6:22

Affirmation: I see with the eye of Spirit and order and beauty fill my world.
