March 2006 ~ Strength

Over the past few months I have written a series of poems based on the Twelve Powers. I am sharing one of these poems each month during this year of 2006. Combined with a quote from Charles Fillmore’s writings, a scripture, and an affirmation, I hope you will find these “Power Pages” interesting and inspiring. (Poetry needs to be read aloud for full appreciation. Try it!)

“Strength is the energy of God… physical, mental, and spiritual… manifesting as freedom from weakness, stability of character, power to withstand temptation, capacity to accomplish. All strength originates in Spirit.” Revealing Word, p186

Strength has many guises,
often wearing faces
that take us by surprise.

Just when things have pushed us
to that place we call our “limit,”
strength shows up as patience.

Just when, out of the blue,
the thing we most feared
has come upon us,
strength steps in as courage.

And, just when that which was
sure to be quick and easy
has become long and exhausting,
strength hangs on as perseverance.

Strength has many guises,
coming to us, moving through us,
at just the right time,
in just the right way,
as just what we need.

“The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him
and I am helped. Therefore, my heart greatly rejoices
and with my song will I praise him.” Psalm 28:7

Affirmation: I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.
